Clickbank Review: Good Way To Make Money Or Not?
In this Clickbank review, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of promoting Clickbank affiliate products.
And we’ll discuss other businesses that may actually be easier for beginners to make money with.
What is Clickbank?
Clickbank is an affiliate network that specializes in digital products (eBooks, software, video courses).
In other words, if you promote a product hosted within Clickbank’s Marketplace you can earn an affiliate commission.
For example, if you have an audience in the dating niche… you can search Clickbank’s Marketplace and promote a dating offer to earn a percentage of sales.
The Pros of Promoting Clickbank Products
Free To Join
Like most affiliate networks, Clickbank is free to join.
But it’s easier to join than most affiliate networks because there is no interview or approval process.
So if you’re a newbie this may be an attractive option because you won’t have to do Skype interviews with an affiliate manager to get accepted.
High Commissions
Typically, top Clickbank product owners offer 50% or more in commissions.
Some product owners even offer 75% commissions.
And some may even offer more than that if you provide a really high volume of sales.
Because Clickbank specializes in digital products, product owners can offer much higher commissions than other affiliate networks.
For example, Amazon Associate commissions are in the 4% or less range.
Plus, most top products also give you commissions on upsells, downsells, and recurring billings. This helps to increase your earnings per click and overall income.
60 Day Cookie
Currently, Clickbank affiliate cookies last for 60 days.
So if a visitor clicks your link and doesn’t decide to buy until day 60 you’ll still be credited for the sale.
Compare that to an Amazon Associates affiliate cookie, which only lasts 1 day.
Wide Selection of Affiliate Products
It’s likely you’ll find a relevant affiliate product for your niche in Clickbank.
There are so many product categories and offers to promote that you’ll likely have multiple options to test.
Reputable Payouts
Clickbank has been around since 1998.
They have a solid reputation for paying affiliates and for paying on time. In fact, my very first affiliate commission in 2011 came from Clickbank.
Also, after you hit the initial threshold, you can set up weekly payouts.
The Cons of Promoting Clickbank Products
High Competition
Clickbank has been around for 20+ years.
Nearly every beginner affiliate has heard of it. And because there’s no interview and approval process practically anyone can join.
This means if you decide to promote a Clickbank product it’s likely there are hundreds of other affiliates promoting that same product, too.
So if you’re planning to makes sales you’re going to have to put time and effort into becoming an extremely great marketer.
Only Paid Per Sale
With Clickbank, you only get paid per sale.
Meaning you only earn a commission if your lead becomes a paying customer.
That may not sound too bad, but for beginners there are easier offers to promote.
For example, there are affiliate offers where you can get paid for an email submit, a zip submit, an app install, etc. where a lead doesn’t even have to pay for anything.
That’s so much easier for beginners to make conversions and commissions than promoting something where someone has to buy a product.
Is There An Easier Way Than Clickbank For Beginners?
Clickbank is legitimate, but I don’t think it’s the easiest way for beginners to make money online.
After all, you’re either going to have to invest a lot of time to build an audience to promote products to.
Or you’re going to have to invest money upfront to pay for ads.
Plus, getting people to pay $47 for an eBook is not the easiest sale to make.
There are definitely much easier ways, like Digital Flipping.
What is Digital Flipping?
Digital Flipping is easier than Clickbank because you go straight to proven buyers online.
For example, someone will need a logo and will pay $150 for it.
You then outsource logo design for $20 and then pocket the difference.
Easier Sell
With Digital Flipping, people are already telling you exactly what they want, how they want it, what they’ll pay, and, chances are, they already have a spending history.
With Clickbank products, you’ll have to build up and nurture an audience before making a sale… without even knowing if people want it, if they’ll even pay for it, or if they ever spent any money online.
Small Learning Curve
With Digital Flipping, you don’t have to invest time building an audience or paying for ads.
After all, I’ll show you where to find proven buyers online right away.
And you’ll be outsourcing all the work.
This means you can make money in virtually any niche far more quickly.
In closing, Clickbank is legitimate and reputable. You can definitely make money promoting Clickbank offers.
But, I do not believe it’s the easiest way for beginners to make money online.
After all, selling eBooks or informational products is not the easiest sell to make… especially for a beginner.
I believe beginners should start off with easier businesses to build up their bankroll and confidence before pursuing more difficult businesses.
